BAMIN donates nearly 1,500 native tree seedlings in Itapetinga

In July, BAMIN donated nearly 1,500 seedlings of native trees from the Atlantic Forest to the Municipal Environment Department of Itapetinga. The action aims to support the recovery of riparian areas and public spaces by the city, including squares, parks and banks of the Catolé River.

The seedlings are part of the BAMIN Flora Rescue Program, which focuses on the protection and collection of essential species of the biome. This program occurs in two phases: pre-submission, with early rescue of seedlings, and suppression, when monitoring and collection occurs during extraction.

Bárbara Buss, an environmental analyst at BAMIN, points out that this donation reflects the company’s commitment to environmental preservation and sustainable development in the region. “The species rescued are also used in the Forest Compensation Programs (PCF) and Environmental Education (PEA), which are part of BAMIN’s Basic Environmental Plan.”

The Flora Rescue Program also includes the monitoring of epiphytes, with parameters to ensure their reintroduction. In addition, a Seedling Nursery is maintained to preserve seedlings, plants and seeds extracted from the construction sites, until they can be reintroduced or donated, as occurred in Itapetinga.
