THE PEDRA DE FERRO
MINE PROJECT

This represents the most important iron ore mining project being developed in Bahia.

In its planning, the mine includes ore extraction, beneficiation, and logistics solutions involving rail and sea transportation. At this time, operations are producing premium quality ore on a small scale, with high purity content (65% Fe), allowing us to reduce the CO2 emissions produced in the steelmaking process. Current production capacity can reach 2 million tons per year, with dry processing of Hematite – which does not generate tailings and does not use water during the process.

BAMIN will invest heavily in a globally known Dry Stacking tailings filtering process, which will eliminate the need to use dams for the disposal of tailings that are produced by ore beneficiation, providing even greater safety for employees and local communities.

The Pedra de Ferro Mine will become a reference point for technology and sustainability for the projects of the similar kind.

PRODUCTS

PREMIUM quality ore.

BAMIN’s iron ore has a premium quality, with an iron content of around 65%. Due to its quality, this ore has the characteristic of allowing the reduction of CO2 emissions in the steelmaking process, which improves the performance of the industry. The premium ore has a high degree of purity and the beneficiation process requires less water and energy.
